Nestled in the serene lap of the Himalayas, Lapas Village is an offbeat travel destination in Himachal Pradesh that offers a unique and tranquil experience away from the bustling tourist spots. How to reach -

By Air:

The nearest airport to Lapas Village is the Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali Airport), which is approximately 50 km away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach the village.


By Train:

The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar Railway Station, located around 70 km from Lapas Village. From the station, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach your destination.


By Road:

Lapas Village is well-connected by road. You can take a bus or drive from major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla. The village is about 450 km from Delhi, and the drive offers picturesque views of the Himalayan landscape.


Best Time to Travel

The best time to visit Lapas Village is from March to June and September to November. During these months, the weather is pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploration. The summer months (March to June) are perfect for trekking and sightseeing, while the autumn months (September to November) offer clear skies and beautiful landscapes.


Best Hostels for Solo Travelers in Lapas

Personal reference - Parvati's lap hostel

A traditional mountain home has been turned into a beautiful hostel surrounded by breathtaking views. Made from traditional earthy raw materials like hemp, cow dung, mud, wood, and stone.This way the cottage's temperature is balanced during the hot and cold seasons. It has a nice and cozy cafe that serves delicious food too.

You can reach here by taking a cab from kasol, passing Manikaran. The cab will leave you at the foot of the mountain from where you have to hike for 20-30 minutes.




Zostel Lapas: A popular choice among solo travelers, Zostel offers a comfortable stay with clean dormitories and private rooms. It also provides common areas for socializing and organizing local tours.


Gypsy Soul Hostel: A quaint and budget-friendly option, Gypsy Soul Hostel provides dorms and private rooms, along with a communal kitchen and outdoor seating area to relax and mingle with fellow travelers.

  1. Parashar Lake: Located about 40 km from Lapas Village, this beautiful lake is surrounded by the Dhauladhar ranges and is known for its floating island and a three-story pagoda-like temple dedicated to Sage Parashar.

  2. Jalori Pass: Approximately 60 km from Lapas, Jalori Pass offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and is a great spot for trekking and nature walks. The pass is open only during the summer months.

  3. Tirthan Valley: About 30 km from Lapas, Tirthan Valley is a serene destination known for its crystal-clear river, lush green landscapes, and adventure activities like trout fishing, trekking, and bird watching.

  4. Chehni Kothi: A historical tower located around 20 km from Lapas Village, Chehni Kothi is an architectural marvel made of wood and stone, offering a glimpse into the traditional Himachali way of life.

  5. Kasol: Approximately 45 km from Lapas, Kasol is a popular destination in the Parvati Valley known for its scenic beauty, vibrant café culture, and as a hub for trekking and backpacking. It is often referred to as the "Mini Israel of India" due to the significant number of Israeli tourists visiting the area.
